I recently attended a wedding in Miami where the Welcome Party called for “Cuban Cocktail” attire to play up the bride’s heritage. After doing an unofficial office poll, I learned that Cuban cocktail means ruffles, color, and high-low dresses. A quick closet survey revealed that I had none of the above—just solid color slip dresses, romantic summer dresses, and an absurd amount of white. So, the second I touched down in Florida, my friend Jill (pictured here) and I went shopping and pulled an embarrassingly large number of dresses to try on. We were in luck—ruffles, color, and asymmetrical hemlines are all completely on trend this season so we had a ton of options to choose from. I went for a Caroline Constas embellished sleeve dress, while Jill opted for a Cinq à Sept flute skirt dress with banana print heels (obviously) and Hart Hagerty tassel earrings. Not only were we appropriately attired for the welcome party, but we will both be able to wear these dresses all season long. Below, a few of my favorites to get you through holiday party season (and just in time for your Cyber Monday shopping). —A.O.
