Though they both attended the University of Southern California at the same time, it was a classic New York City intern season that brought Delaney Doney and Brendan Doney together. And the city again marked another milestone moment for them.
Brendan proposed during what Delaney thought was a casual rooftop drink in SoHo. “We showed up to an empty rooftop with a ‘Marry Me’ sign and photographers waiting, and I still didn’t think that this was for me,” she laughs. It took her a second for it to sink in. "My jaw was on the floor and I fell to tears instantly."
The couple chose to say “I do” on June 15, 2024, at Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena—a place that holds deep personal meaning as they look toward building a future there together. “Given that we eventually want to move to Pasadena and raise our kids there, there was a lot of sentimental value to this venue,” Delaney explains. With the help of Bash Please, they brought to life a wedding that felt “elegant, relaxed, and most importantly FUN,” leaning into a summer garden party aesthetic that complemented the venue’s lush outdoor setting.
From the start, every detail reflected that vision. Florals by Pigsty added an organic, romantic layer to the space, while stationery by Anne Robin Calligraphy set the tone with refined, personal touches.
Delaney, functional nutritionist and founder of her private practice The Clear Skin Nutritionist, discovered her Katherine Tash ceremony and after-party looks at Loho Bride. She accessorized the former with a lace-trimmed Costarellos veil and a mix of her own jewelry and heirloom pieces from her mother and mother-in-law. For beauty, Page Beauty created a natural, timeless look. Brendan complemented her perfectly in a classic black Ralph Lauren tuxedo.
The late-spring ceremony itself was intimate and personal. Set outdoors beneath towering trees, Delaney walked down the aisle with both of her parents to a string quartet rendition of "Best Part" by Daniel Caesar—a song that would later reappear during the first dance. Officiated by a close family friend, the ceremony reflected their shared values and journey together. “It was brief, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful—exactly as we had envisioned,” Delaney says. “I felt elated, overwhelmed with love, and completely present in the moment.”
Following the ceremony, guests transitioned into a sunlit reception that felt like an elevated garden party. A marbled checkered dance floor anchored the space, setting the stage for a night centered around celebration and movement. With live music by West Coast Music’s JB Project, the energy never dipped. “Having a night full of dancing was so important to us, and they truly delivered,” Delaney shares.
The couple’s first dance—once again to "Best Part"—brought the day full circle, tying together the ceremony and reception. “All of the dancing and incredible live music, hands down, was my favorite part of the reception,” Delaney says.
Dinner featured a thoughtful menu including Cabernet-braised short ribs, pan-roasted chicken, and butternut squash ravioli, followed by a selection of cakes from Cake Monkey in flavors like Funfetti, black and white, and vanilla with chocolate buttercream.
As the night continued, guests moved inside for an after-party where DJ sets by Dart Collective kept the celebration going. Late-night bites from Pasadena-favorite Pie ’n Burger—complete with burgers, fries, chili, pies, and milkshakes—added a nostalgic, playful touch to end the evening. Captured beautifully by photographer Natalie Bray, every moment of Delaney and Brendan’s wedding felt layered with intention, joy, and personality.
After the festivities, the couple set off for a honeymoon in Bora Bora, the perfect ending to a weekend that felt, in every sense, like a dream.
