Fifi Knott and Scott Leachman were set up on a blind date by mutual friends and had been dating for two years when he proposed in her aunt’s driveway in Palm Beach. He had planned to take her on a beach walk to brunch with their dog, Poppy, but Fifi shut that early morning plan down to sleep in and insisted on driving. Right before she opened the car door, he got down on one knee. “He knew he had to propose before we met my family for brunch, so when he asked me to marry him, I was completely surprised,” she says.

Bermuda was a natural choice to host their #ScottTiesTheKnott wedding, since both of their families have been going there for years. Scott and his family go to The Mid Ocean Club and Fifi’s parents frequent the Coral Beach & Tennis Club, so hosting their events at these two locations was logical. To help plan everything, they hired Molly Middleton of the namesake events company.

Fifi knew from the start that she wanted a strapless style dress for her wedding and found her perfect look in the “Gigi” dress by Mira Zwillinger at Mark Ingram Atelier. “It was lightweight, strapless, and had the most amazing floral appliqué detail and a beautiful long train. I knew the second I tried it on that it was ‘the one,’” she says. For her hair and makeup, she hired Shayla Wynne and Azra Red from White Rose Collective. Shayla did a beachy half-up ’do for the ceremony and a low bun for the reception. And Azra kept her look natural and light.

Scott wore a custom navy suit from P. Johnson, with an Alton Lane shirt, Peter Blair tie, and Gucci loafers. Groomsmen wore their own navy suits with black shoes and were gifted custom ties, which featured Bermuda and a love knot, for Fifi’s last name, Knott. Bridesmaids wore their own pastel, long dresses and tied their looks together with green vine crowns.

On the Croquet Lawn at the Coral Beach Club, and under blue skies, Fifi’s family minister, Father Mark Fitzhugh, officiated the ceremony. After their first kiss as husband and wife, Bermudian Gombey dancers led guests from cocktail hour to the reception.

For the tented space, they focused on decorating with light, pastel flowers mixed with greenery. Round tables with Chiavari chairs were set with Carolina blue table cloths and white floral center pieces. “My wedding planner, Molly, designed these huge orbs, covered in lights and green vines, that hung from the tent ceiling that really brought the whole look together. The tent felt so romantic, yet clean and airy!” Fifi says. The buffet and bar were in separate tents, so they could accommodate a bigger dance floor.

After the newlyweds had their first dance to “Everlasting Love” by Carl Carlton, the band, the Bobby Attiko Band, kept everyone out on the floor all night. And then, once the reception formally ended, guests were led to the beach for a bonfire with food, music, and more late-night drinks.
