Our welcome bags were a proper Italian welcome! We worked with Letterink, an Italian design studio, to design a custom illustration of the lake with our venues for the bags. Inside them were Aperol Spritzes, traditional Italian candies, itineraries, and passport booklets with personalized boat tickets to “Christophe & Sophie Ferry Lines." They assigned each guest to their riva boat for our boat cruise day.

I love this green Oscar de la Renta guipure lace gown so much, I would have gotten married in it! This was the first gown that my bridal stylist Cynthia Cook Smith and I selected. Fun Fact: I was originally leaning toward a wedding dress with long lace sleeves, but when we settled on this green dress, I switched my ceremony gown so that they wouldn’t be too similar.

Feeling so much anticipation for the night ahead! I knew I wanted my hair to be up to show off the neckline of this dress, but still wanted it to look relaxed and effortless, so my hair stylist Victoria Ralph did a textured low ponytail. Kelly Dawn, the best makeup artist, created a pink-toned eye to complement the vibrant green of my gown. I wore pear bezel drop earrings by Stephanie Gottlieb.

The grounds at Villa D’Este are simply magnificent…

Shooting with our photographer Catherine Mead before heading to the welcome party. I need to frame this shot for our living room at home!

Right at this moment, some of our friends also staying at the hotel walked by and saw us for the first time. There was a lot of yelling, hooting and cheering in the background - trying to keep it together to get the shot but we were both laughing!

Day two was a boat day, with private tours of the lake for our guests in 16 riva boats. I wore this short Oscar de la Renta floral dress with statement sleeves, and shortened it a bit for a more playful hemline length. I paired the dress with white Manolo Blahnik pumps, Saint Laurent cat-eye sunglasses and floral diamond studs by Stephanie Gottlieb.

Halfway through our boat ride to Bellagio, all of our boats pulled up together for a champagne toast with us in the very middle and our friends and family surrounding us in a circle - I will never forget this moment. The boats then sped off together in a V- formation with ours leading the way. It felt like something out of a movie.

It was supposed to rain on this day and I was nervous about a Plan B - the weather can be precarious in Lake Como even in September, the best month! Miraculously, the skies cleared to complete sunshine. It couldn’t have been more beautiful.

After arriving in Bellagio, all 117 of us deboarded the boats and wandered off to find pizza and gelato…

Caught in a moment.

I sent out mood boards to all our guests with inspiration for what to wear on each day - each guest really brought their A-game! My friend and hair colorist, Kadi Lee, had incredible looks.

I fell in love with my ceremony gown for its unique crescent-shape neckline and countless hand-sewn floral appliqués that faded into French lace. I worked closely with the Oscar de la Renta team and Cynthia Cook Smith to perfect the shape - it had a delicate A-line shape skirt, but we fitted it closer to the hips and extended the train by two full feet. It truly felt like “me.” I paired the dress with Jimmy Choo ivory satin pumps.

Having worn my hair up for the past two days, I decided to keep it down with just a slight bend. I wanted to feel like myself for the ceremony, and I felt that the intricacy of my gown needed to be balanced with effortless hair.

I got ready at Villa Pizzo, our wedding venue. This moment was right before I changed into my gown.

Can’t contain my excitement! It really started to feel real…

Ready to head to the ceremony.

This photo is a favorite from the whole day - the lighting and framing is so magical! It reminds me of the Sound of Music before Maria walks into the church to be married.

Christophe wore a navy blue and black lapel Tom Ford tuxedo with a larger exaggerated bow-tie and velvet slippers. He looked so handsome.

Our first look! It really put us both at ease.
23 of 66
Christophe wasn’t exactly sure what kind of gown I’d wear - but he guessed it would be “something dramatic and elaborate; a statement!” (it’s possible that guess was also based on the weight of the dust bag that he carried through three airports for me).

Moments before we hopped in a golf cart to head to the ceremony with our parents.

The ceremony area at Villa Pizzo has a panoramic lake view, so I didn’t want to compete with it and cover it in unnecessary detail. I worked with our amazing florist, Chiara Sperti, to create a palette of warm peach garden roses, creams, and plenty of greenery.

Watching me walk down the aisle…

This moment was everything I’d imagined it would be - seeing all the smiling faces of our friends and family. The ceremony began with a string trio playing the Beatles’ “Here, There, Everywhere,” then my Dad and I walked to Canon in D.

One of our closest friends, Derek Dolin, officiated our ceremony. He was made for the job!

We read our own vows, which were both heartfelt and very funny. Perhaps the best compliment of the whole wedding was hearing our friends say that our vows were some of the best they’ve ever heard.

This picture makes me fall in love with my veil all over again - the negative space is so ethereal.

Walking out to a chorus of cheers.

The ceremony felt like it passed in the blink of an eye - like stolen time; I truly wish I could relive it again.

The area leading to and from the ceremony area is a ten minute walk down a rustic, tree lined pathway. Heading to take some photos and join the rest of our cocktail party!

Our moms arriving to the cocktail party after the ceremony. I love this photo of them together. Christophe’s mom is holding my bouquet, which my mom secretly saved and flew back to the States with to have the rose petals pressed and preserved.

Love in Lake Como.

We did not have a traditional “bridal party,” in fact we chose to forego a lot of traditional wedding elements. I wanted my friends to relax and have no responsibilities - and to wear what they wanted to!

These girls all looked so beautiful and I was so grateful to have them in Italy with us.

I loved our signage - including this custom arched table seating chart, with hooks that displayed each guest’s name on a tag.
43 of 66
Our marquee dinner tent was a dream come true. I knew that I wanted to utilize all the aerial space, so we hung chandeliers and incorporated lots of undone greenery and hanging juliet garden roses woven throughout the ceiling. It came alive in candlelight.
44 of 66
The marquee spacing was a bit tricky to accommodate a long table and it was built around old trees in the courtyard, but I insisted on finding a way - I think extra long dinner tables have such a beautiful, old-world, medieval feeling to them.
45 of 66
We kept the same delicate floral color palette in the marquee, but added some small burgundy chocolate cosmos to add depth (a brilliant idea from Cynthia Cook Smith, who truly was my right hand in making these aesthetic choices). Considering that it was a September wedding, this also added a seasonally appropriate touch of early Fall and felt like a departure from your typical pinks and creams.
46 of 66
I am in love with the custom menu design - each name was hand written with a gold tassel attached to the tag.
47 of 66
Our overall design felt elegant and romantic, but not overdone, which was my goal. The marquee really fit in with the surrounding gardens and natural beauty of the villa.

Christophe and I took a few dance lessons to prepare for this moment. (I grew up dancing, but he felt like he needed some instruction!) It definitely paid off and made us way less nervous.
49 of 66
The bustle of my gown was tricky since the train was so long, but the incredible bridal team at Oscar de la Renta created an invisible arch of tiny buttons and loops to attach the train to - Cynthia and I are not big fans of bustles, but we had no choice if I was to dance in it, and it was worth it!

Christophe’s best friend, Austin, gave a speech that brought the house down in laughter - no (honorary) best man speech is complete without a little friendly roasting :)
51 of 66
We didn’t have a speech planned, but at this moment it felt right to stand up and express how much gratitude we had for all of our friends and family flying so far to celebrate us. Christophe spoke and I could only echo his sentiments for a moment, as the tears were flowing.
52 of 66
My Dad and I danced to the Temptations, “My Girl” - a moment I’ll cherish. We considered a lot of other songs, but this one has always been his favorite. At first I told him I thought it was too predictable - but he said “but you are, my girl!” How could I turn that down?
53 of 66
Christophe and his Mom dancing to Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind.” His mom, Marianne, was a Radio City Rockette - so safe to say we all expected a top tier performance, and they sure delivered!!
54 of 66
After the speeches, we were running a tad behind schedule (not very uncommon for me during wedding week…) and we needed to begin our surprise fireworks at exactly 9:45 pm due to permitting laws with the city. It was already 9:20 and I had planned to change into this sparkling party dress and switch up my hair and makeup but time was tight. I promised our amazing planner, Leandra, I would SPRINT inside and make it quick. I think I gave Kelly and Victoria a heart attack, but we managed to change my look completely in about eight minutes including a new slicked back ponytail. They deserve a medal for that feat!

The last Oscar de la Renta dress of the evening - a show stopping backless number with a nude lining, covered in sequins. Obsessed is an understatement. I wore diamond solitaire studs by Stephanie Gottlieb, which I wore all day, and changed my shoes to a platform Prada.
56 of 66
Our wedding cake was a traditional Italian shape and size, called a “Millefoglie” which typically has fruit - but I couldn’t help requesting red velvet on the inside (very NOT Italian). I have no regrets about our wedding, but if I had to choose, it was that I never got a slice of the cake to taste as the surprise fireworks began and we started to cut it, and then we all raced inside to dance! I’m still thinking about that - and friends said it was delicious.

Moments before the first firework went off and the crowd erupted in gasps.

We choreographed the firework show to Dean Martin’s “Volare” and it ended with Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got the Love.”

In awe that this happened.

Our live band performance was incredible.

Soaking in every moment as the night quickly slipped away…

Blunotte, our music and lighting vendor, did such an amazing job with the lighting design during the band’s performance - the marquee was lit up in color with each song.

The one word that comes to mind from this whole day is simply, “joy.” It was palpable from start to finish.
