One of the most influential figures of 19th-century Portuguese culture, Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro built his legacy through humorous drawings, caricatures, and ceramics—most notably when he founded the Fábrica de Faianças in Caldas in 1884, producing pieces of remarkable technical and artistic quality, from azulejos tiles and panels to pots and beyond. Today, Bordallo Pinheiro remains faithful to that heritage, honoring ancestral manufacturing techniques and the naturalistic motifs that have always been at the root of its designs.
