Ever since its debut in 2016, L.A.-based label Dôen has garnered a cultish following thanks to its “for women, by women” ethos and unapologetically feminine silhouettes. (Everyone from Lily Aldridge to Dakota Johnson have stepped out in their prairie-inspired, romantic frocks.) Now, the collective of females behind the brand—including co-founders and sister duo Katherine and Margaret Kleveland—have added a new line to their designs that is sure to fulfill every bohemian wedding dream: the Celebration range.
“We saw that women in our community were choosing pieces from our collections for their weddings and other special life moments,” Margaret notes of their Instagram revelation. “It inspired us to create a real space for bridal and event dresses.” This collection imparts the same unfussy nostalgic femininity with which the brand has become synonymous, but with added elevated touches—think: a 1930s-inspired silk, lace-trimmed slip (the Valencia) or a dainty, puffed-sleeved gown with “Something Blue” embroidery (the Mala). Whether you’re a guest at a seaside wedding in Nantucket or planning your own storybook Napa nuptials, you’re sure to find a look that lends itself to any joyous affair, big or small.
As the feathery warmth of summer sets upon us and wedding season presses on, expect more covetable Celebration offerings to reveal themselves, and inevitably take up a big portion of the space at the brand’s first permanent retail store, debuting early next month at the Brentwood Country Mart. “We want to be able to speak to all different brides and offer bits and pieces that make her feel beautiful on her wedding day, however that day looks and feels,” Margaret explains of their future expansion goals. And, how do they see each look being worn? “We envision them paired with a wisp of baby’s breath in the hair,” Katherine says. “And a family heirloom heart locket around the neck.”
