In the past, engagements were listed in the newspaper, or perhaps an elegant announcement was sent out via snail mail. But today, almost as soon as someone has said “I do,” they’re sharing a photo of their ring on Instagram and coming up with cute hashtags. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!) Even celebrities are in on the trend, as more and more of them are choosing to blast out their big news to their followers via a cute pic. What can we say other than #celebritiestheyrejustlikeus? Of course, the difference between a celeb engagement announcement and regular person’s often comes down to ring size—theirs are never short of massive! Below, we rounded up some of the celebrity engagement rings we love ogling on Instagram. Warning: some of these sparklers might cause temporary blindness!
After hitting it off at a 2016 Golden Globes after-party, the pop star and actor Orlando Bloom dated on and off for a few years. Bloom reportedly proposed on Valentine’s Day, in a very movie star way, by whisking Perry off in a helicopter around New York City and presenting her with a ring while up in the air. The flower-shaped 4-carat engagement ring features a pink ruby surrounded by eight smaller diamonds, and according to People magazine, could cost up to $5 million!
In January, actor Chris Pratt shared a sweet Instagram shot with his new fiancé Katherine Schwarzenegger, where she is seen sporting an oval shaped solitaire diamond engagement ring. The sparkler is estimated to be a six or seven carat diamond, which would cost around $150,000 to $250,000.

A couple weeks ago, I said “YES” about a million times to the man of my wildest & most beautiful dreams. After celebrating with friends and family, we wanted to let a few more friends (you guys) know… this happened. ✨I’m still pinching myself and thanking my lucky stars for the truest feeling I’ve ever felt. Thank you @tylerstanaland for the happiest day of my life & for not proposing in this creepy empty restaurant.
In a cute black and white pic on Instagram, actress Brittany Snow shared the big news that she was engaged to boyfriend Tyler Stanaland. A few days later, the couple’s jeweler opened up on the custom two-carat, round brilliant diamond design that Stanaland created for Snow. “Tyler had the chance to design Brittany’s ring to perfectly fit her personal style and personality.” She certainly seems happy with the choice. “I’m still pinching myself and thanking my lucky stars for the truest feeling I’ve ever felt,” she wrote in the Instagram post, which featured an up close look at her ring.
While Lawrence is notoriously not on social media, that didn’t stop her ring from making the rounds on Instagram during Paris Fashion Week, where her new diamond ring was photographed front row at the Christian Dior show. Earlier this month, her rep confirmed the actress had gotten engaged to gallerist Cooke Maroney in New York, after dating for a little less than a year. But it’s clear Lawrence is clearly thrilled with the news as she happily showed off her emerald-cut diamond on a thin gold band to photographers during Dior’s fashion show.
Usually, the first question a newly engaged woman gets is “can I see the ring?!” But in the case of Emrata, we were all kept waiting. After only dating for a couple of weeks, Ratajkowski married actor Sebastian Bear-McClard at New York City Hall. The bride memorably donned a Zara suit for the occasion, and all concerned thought that was that. But flash forward a few months from that winter day, and Ratajkowski posts an image of her stunning, double-diamond, ring. The ring, which was seen coupled with a thin gold wedding band, made for an unusual and memorable look. So how much exactly did it cost? Estimates are in the high five-figures.
Many moons ago, Kim and Kanye were just another couple in an unmarried yet committed relationship. Until one night, at a ballpark to be exact, the famous rapper proposed that they make Kimye and official thing. But of course, this being the king and queen of image making, there was a fair amount of pomp and circumstance. A full orchestra was on hand to set the musical tone, while the main screen of the San Francisco Giants’ stadium read: “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” West later said of the proposal, “If I wanted it to be romantic, I would have gone to a small restaurant or something.” And as for the ring? The Lorraine Schwartz 15-carat juggernaut was a knock-out. Later, Kim’s “second” $4 million engagement ring was stolen when the social media star was robbed in Paris.
What was the best engagement ring of 2017? The stunning bauble given to Meghan Markle, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, by Prince Harry. Unlike the ring Prince William gave Kate Middleton, which had once belonged to the princes’ mother, Princess Diana, this piece of jewelry was a new creation. “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s [Meghan’s] favorite,” Prince Harry himself explained in the couple’s engagement interview. “[T]he main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” he went on to elaborate. And lest you forget, Prince Harry’s proposal was the event that launched one thousand roast chickens. As the couple explained in that same sit-down interview, the prince popped the question during a cozy night of staying in and cooking.
As is the way of the millennial world, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson announced their engagement via Instagram. The news came as a big surprise, as the couple had only been dating for a brief period of time. Grande’s ring is a 3-carat $100,000 knock-out. Jewelry designer Greg Yuna spilled the beans: “Pete called me at the end of May and said, ‘Look, I’m getting a ring. This is what I want.’ And I told him that I had the right ring for him.”
