No stranger to our Dream Registry series, Over The Moon Contributing Editor Amanda Jones Vaughan is expecting her fourth little one this fall and once again sharing her baby registry picks. “Baby Vaughan #4 will be joining a trio of wild wonderful brothers and, as we have done in the past, we are keeping the gender a surprise,” Amanda states. “We have a few different names in the mix and tend to have some sort of influence from family names—and honestly, I could name five girls at this point!—but we always like to meet the new addition before landing on one. That said, the three older brothers are adamantly voting for ‘Baby Zombie’ and ‘Baby Princess Queen Rockstar,’ respectively. Incredibly strong contenders I must say!”

Amanda is always the best-dressed guest; Amanda and Kevin with their boys; Showing off the bump in the Flora One-Piece.

Amanda and her husband, Kevin, welcomed their first boy, JJ, on their first wedding anniversary in 2020. Then, the twins, Kelly and Leo, arrived two years later. For this Dream Baby Registry, the mom of three has a slightly different approach. “[It’s] equal parts aspirational—putting the ‘dream’ in Dream Registry!—and a lot of ‘Oh, wait,.I really need this' or 'I loved this, but I need an upgrade since my last go around!’ While there's plenty of items we won't be needing, I've also tried my best to sell and declutter as routinely as possible—sometimes to a fault!” Amands exclaims. “So building a registry was an incredibly helpful process to remind me of all the things we truly do need to get before baby arrives.”

Nursery

Lightweight yet durable, touches of rattan offer style and function for a cozy, serene space.

Q: How would you describe the aesthetic for the baby’s room and wardrobe?

We are currently renting and possibly moving, so with everything a bit in flux, I feel like “flexible” is the only way to put it for both nursery and wardrobe approaches at this stage in our life! I’m putting zero expectations on myself for the nursery space (whatever and wherever that may be) and have confidence from past experiences that a baby can sleep really anywhere. (We converted our NYC coat closet into a tiny closet nursery for our oldest!) That said, I always try to bring warmth, fun, and a good balance between designing for baby and designing for myself when it comes to our nursery spaces. And while I joke I could run a baby boy’s secondhand boutique with the amount of hand-me-downs I have, three boys really wear and tear their way through their wardrobe. I’ll turn to my tried-and-true favorites to reload for this upcoming addition. And of course, all bets are off if a little lady joins the gang.

Bathtime

Invest in high-quality pieces that are plush and soft-to-the-touch so this process truly nurtures your little one.

Q: What about having your fourth child are you most excited for?

It has been so fun and fulfilling to see our three boys bond and fall into a groove of being siblings. And while it will certainly add more chaos with a fourth sibling in the mix, I’m so looking forward to seeing and helping our family grow with this cast of characters. There’s something also about a fourth kid that has a lot less worry and “not sweating the small stuff”—at least in theory—and I’m really leaning into trying my best to be present and enjoy all of the moments—big, small, hard, and happy.

Bedtime

Make this routine the most luxurious part of your entire day for you and baby.

While we await the newest Vaughan, Amanda gives expecting parents some sound advice: “Every baby is different, every parent is different, and each and every day is different—take it day by day and focus on what is working best for you and your baby at that time! It is always changing and hard not to compare and despair when looking to how others are doing it but trust your gut, celebrate the wins (and keep moving through the hard moments), and ask for help. That was several pieces of advice but kind of sums up parenthood from my perspective. It can be so simple and yet so hard—ALL the things all at once!”
