Over The Moon first discovered Rainey Lancaster when we covered her engagement to Sean Hoag in 2020, followed by an article about her bachelorette trip in Aspen and eventually her floral-filled spring wedding in South Carolina. Since then, we’ve loved working with the influencer and marketer at Apple TV on exclusive capsules, like our second Markarian collection, and now . . . her Dream Baby Registry!
The couple are expecting a baby boy in early June—Gemini alert! “Since both Sean and I have June birthdays, we’re especially excited to welcome another Gemini into the family. A triple Gemini household should keep things interesting, right?” Rainey smiles. “We’re keeping his name a surprise for now.”
For Rainey’s baby boy’s nursery, she brought in some of her East Coast influence into her Los Angeles home. “I naturally gravitated toward more traditional elements when designing the nursery: gingham prints, dark wood furniture, and a subtle Ralph Lauren-inspired vibe,” Rainey shares. Together with Hannah Shargal of Eema Studio, Rainey wanted the space to feel timeless and tailored, yet still playful. She continues, “We layered in coastal California touches like rattan for a lighter, more relaxed balance. We’ve also added unexpected pops of red and a few sweet nods to our firstborn, our golden retriever, Sunny!”
Nursery
A Ralph Lauren–inspired space needs gingham and natural finishes.
I love how Over The Moon offers such a beautiful balance of heirloom-quality pieces and unique finds alongside all the everyday necessities. It made it so easy to create a dream registry that felt both practical and special, spanning nursery pieces, chic baby clothing, and thoughtfully curated baby care items!
Two must-haves that were highly recommended from fellow moms and moms-to-be are the Nanit Pro Monitor and Floor Stand and the BabyBjörn Bouncer. Both felt like such no-brainers for us. The Nanit for the peace of mind of being able to check in any time, especially during those early days, and the bouncer as an easy, safe spot to set baby down while still feeling close by.
Baby Wardrobe & Keepsakes
Invest in special pieces that are plush and soft-to-the-touch.
First, the blue gingham glider from Namesake. I’m a sucker for a good gingham print, and it looks incredibly cozy and timeless. Second, the bonded leather edition of Goodnight Moon with personalization is such a meaningful keepsake; it’s one of my favorite children’s books, and I love that it can be made so special for baby boy! Lastly, the puppy crochet sweater from Little English. It instantly reminded me of Sunny, so I couldn’t resist. It’s such a sweet, personal piece.
Baby Essentials
Make this routine the most luxurious part of your entire day for you and baby.
As a first-time mother, Rainey is just excited to meet him and discover who he is. “I can’t wait for the everyday moments and the feeling of becoming our own little family,” she beams. “I’m also so excited for him to meet all of his cousins; he’ll be the eighth grandchild on my family’s side, as I am the youngest of my siblings. He already has so many cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents ready to welcome him with open arms. We are also eagerly awaiting seeing him and Sunny, our golden retriever, become the best of friends.”
Rainey leaves us with this advice on motherhood and pregnancy: “The best advice I’ve received is to trust my instincts, because more often than not, they’ll guide you better than any book or advice. I’m reminding myself to really give myself grace and do things our own way, and to try and stay as present as possible for all of it—both the beautiful moments and the harder ones—because I know it will all pass by so quickly! I want to make sure to savor it all.”
