What makes the perfect registry? Our Dream Registry series answers just that, providing an endless source of inspiration for those putting together their own Over The Moon Registries. We enlisted the help of some of our most stylish and in-the-know friends—whether they’re single, engaged, or already married. (Because we’re taking a page from Carrie Bradshaw’s playbook and saying one should be able to register for Manolos no matter what their relationship status!) Peek inside the registries of tastemakers, from editors and stylists to wedding planners and beyond. Your dream registry is just a click away.
Ahead of Mother’s Day, The Motherload author Sarah Hoover, who documented the most raw and real version of “what to expect when you’re expecting,” shares her Dream Baby Registry with her two young children, Winnifred “Fred” and Guy Sachs, in mind. She describes the one year old and toddler’s rooms and wardrobes as “serene and traditional.”

Sarah admits she spent most of a cross-country flight going through every Children’s category on Over The Moon—“with mediocre wifi, might I add!” She goes on to explain, “I picked my favorite things that would give me a happy Mother’s Day.” Must-haves included beautiful linens and china for her table. “So many of my best memories are spent eating with my kids.”
Other honorable mentions include silver cups and picture frames. “You need somewhere to stick the photos you got conned into paying a fortune for in the hospital, when you were still on morphine and forgot you hadn’t showered in two days,” Sarah laughs. “Picture frames are always appreciated!”
Sarah’s favorite traditional kid’s clothing brand? La Coqueta. “Even the brattiest little tantrum looks cute when a kid is dressed like this,” she states. “You don’t have to dress up on Mother’s Day if you don’t wanna, but it’s a great day to force your kids to, and then you can take an annual photo! Eventually your son will want to wear sweatpants and over sized T-shirts every day, and you’ll regret it if you don’t put him in this while you still can.”
As for what she’s wearing on her self-proclaimed birthday (Mother’s Day). . .“For Mother’s Day I am not wearing clothes, are you crazy? I will go from breakfast in bed to lunch in bed,” she reveals. “I am likewise not putting out.” Enter the Hoara Nightgown and Maia Vintage Robe.
For expectant parents making their Over The Moon Baby Registries, Sarah gives this key advice: “Go big! You can buy your own measuring cups. This is a chance to stockpile heirloom items that you can make memories with.”
And who better to ask for pregnancy/motherhood advice ahead of Mother’s Day? Sarah leaves us with this: “It ends. All of it. Find the silver lining of every phase because none are forever.”
