The end of the wedding weekend is always a little sad for newlyweds. Friends and family head home, the left over cake is packed away, and the stress of 100+ thank you notes waiting to be written begins to set in. The anticipation is officially over. But wait! There’s still one thing left to look forward to: The Honeymoon! And we’re big believers in this first adventure as husband and wife being one that’s beyond memorable.
Earlier this summer we followed Clary Bosbyshell and Graham Welsh on their travels through Greece. Now we’re turning to Homepolish designer, Vogue.com contributor, and OTM bride Ariel Okin’s honeymoon in Capri, Florence, and Tuscany. Boating around the Italian islands, shopping in Capri, walking tours through Florence, and a picnic and wine tasting in the vineyards of Tuscany with new hubs Benjamin were all on the well-planned itinerary, and Ariel’s clothes were perfectly coordinated for every setting and activity. (Don’t forget to shop her packing list!)
The newlyweds kicked off the trip on the island of Capri where they stayed at Casa Morgano which according to Ariel is “a total hidden gem.” Nestled into a cliff overlooking the water, the small hotel is walking distance from the town. “It feels like a home away from home in the most gorgeous place you could dream of—I’m still thinking of their breakfast buffet, and we’ve been back for almost a month!” laughs Ariel.
After six days in Capri, the couple traveled to Florence where Ben studied abroad in college,“We spent two days in Florence, and it was a great way to break up the lounging with some culture. It was also so much fun getting to see where he lived and eating at his hidden spots like Osteria delle Tre Panche. I ate truffle ravioli that was so good it almost brought a tear to my eye,” remembers Ariel.
For the last leg of their trip the couple made their way to Tuscany where they stayed at Castiglion del Bosco, a UNESCO World Heritage site owned by Massino Ferragamo. Set in a beautifully restored medieval borgo village from the 15th Century, everything from the pool overlooking the wheat fields of Siena to the Brunello vineyards (where the couple had a picnic and wine tasting) was belissimo, “The service was outstanding, and we truly felt like we were in a different era,” says Ariel.“I already miss it!”
