While the world has anxiously been counting down the days until the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, this past weekend, another royal wedding took place in Lima, Peru with considerably less fanfare. On March 16, Prince Christian of Hanover (also known as the stepson of Princess Caroline of Monaco) and Peruvian lawyer Alessandra de Osma tied the knot in the bride’s hometown in a lavish ceremony that included a number of high profile guests such as Kate Moss, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Pierre and Andrea Casiraghi.

The ceremony took place at the 17th century Basilica San Pedro at noon, and was followed by a lunch at Club Nacional in Plaza San Martin, a cocktail party at the Berckemeyer house, a 1930s mansion that once belonged to the bride’s great grandparents, and a black tie bash at the Museo de Osma. For her big day, Alessandra wore a long-sleeved, high-necked lace gown by Spanish designer Jorge Vazquez. While the dress recalled the glamour of Grace Kelly’s wedding gown, the bridal pièce de résistance was the Hanover Floral tiara on Alessandra’s head, which was previously worn by Christian’s stepmother, Caroline of Monaco, and Alessandra’s sister-in-law Ekaterina Malyshev, who married Christian’s brother last year. For the lunch and cocktail events later on, the bride later changed into a silk slip dress reminiscent of Carolyn Bessette’s iconic Narciso Rodriguez wedding gown and a baby’s breath tiara. And later ended the night at the after-party wearing an ivory duchess satin dress with a bow detail in the back.

The newlyweds first met in Lima back in 2005, when a young Alessandra was tasked with showing Christian around the city. She likely never guessed that thirteen years later their initial meeting would lead to a fairytale wedding.
