Caroline Ragsdale Reutter had a background in interior design, but good food was always a major ingredient in her life. And growing up in Lake City, South Carolina, life revolved around entertaining. She served her first—now famous—caramel cake at her son’s christening in 1982 and word of mouth quickly spread the legend of the seven-layer cake to as far as Alaska and Hawaii. Today, her son Richard has joined the team to bring the delicious desserts to more sweets-lovers around the country.
