The creative force behind the weddings of celebrities like Kate and Kevin Love, Savannah and LeBron James, and Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, Over The Moon Directory Planner Marcy Blum transforms celebrations for all her clients at the highest level while simultaneously wielding with the sharpest wit. She also most recently helped us with the design of our Cabana for Over The Moon collaboration campaign and was one of the most memorable guests at the launch dinner Out East.
After years of bringing her clients’ visions to life, it’s time to discover Blum’s own distinctive point of view and sense of style through her Dream Registry.
The New York City–based planner extraordinaire explains that her aesthetic evolves as she does. “After a visit to Yves Saint Laurent’s home in Morocco, I fell in love with deep, saturated colors for my own home,” she shares. “For the events we produce, it’s dependent on our clients’ taste, but it will always have a bit of whimsy and playful elements.”
For The Kitchen
Invest in “buy-it-for-life” appliances, and choose pieces that add a sense of warmth to your space.
My home aesthetic is rooted in joy. Think saturated, happy hues, and pattern-forward spaces inspired by the maximalist sensibility of House of Hackney. My kitchen anchors the home in royal blue with mercury-glass shelving accented with gold, while statement pieces like a yellow chaise lounge and a fringed chair bring personality through texture and form. With events, my process begins long before the planning does. It starts with getting to know my couples as people. I learn where they love to travel, the restaurants that feel like home to them, the way they’ve designed their own spaces. From there, I hand-pick a team of experts whose aesthetic and energy I know will feel like a natural extension of who they are.
For The Table
Style with timeless classics you’ll reach for again and again.
An embroidered napkin is a non-negotiable for me. We use them at every event. They instantly elevate the table and are honestly the ultimate host flex. After attending CIA, I wouldn’t say I am a chef, but I am a passionate cook. My Le Creuset collection reflects both. The bold colors are as much a part of my kitchen’s aesthetic as they are a tool in my repertoire. I also love these Carolina Irving & Daughters dessert plates for their bold patterns and color play. We always try to find interesting flatware at our events to level it up a notch.
Whimsy, Colorful, Fun
Because why limit your registry to just the classics?
Blum leaves us with sage advice for couples currently making their own Over The Moon Registries: “Register with your future in mind. You may be in an apartment now, but your kitchen will grow, and your registry should grow with it. Use this as an opportunity to ask for the pieces you’d never splurge on yourselves, the ones that feel a little special, a little indulgent, and entirely worth it.”
