What makes the perfect registry? Our Dream Registry series answers just that, providing an endless source of inspiration for those putting together their own Over The Moon Registries. We enlisted the help of some of our most stylish and in-the-know friends—whether they’re single, engaged, or already married. (Because we’re taking a page from Carrie Bradshaw’s playbook and saying one should be able to register for Manolos no matter what their relationship status!) Peek inside the registries of tastemakers, from editors and stylists to wedding planners and beyond. Your dream registry is just a click away.
Founder and CEO of her namesake design firmCaitlin Emma Wilson created the whimsical Beheld Butterfly print for the latest Alexia María for Over The Moon Capsule Collection. To celebrate, the Dallas-based tastemaker is sharing what she's adding to her Over The Moon Dream Registry, since it wasn't an option when she tied the knot.
Caitlin and John Brigham Wilson, the CEO of Sonic Texas, first met as children in elementary school. "We were childhood pen pals, and much of our relationship was spent writing letters to each other," she explains. After around a decade, "he proposed with all the letters we had written as kids and all throughout high school. It was very sweet, candlelight and handwritten letter-filled."
The pair wed on August 26, 2006 in Diablo, California at a country club. Caitlin said I do in a custom-made dress, inspired by her favorite scalloped blouse at the time. "Having been married for almost 19 years, we’re still working on merging our styles as they evolve," Caitlin says of mixing her and John's tastes. "It's interesting as you change over time—as you become more opinionated—how that can create new dynamics in designing your home. After having designed three or four homes over the years, I’m finally learning how to marry our adult taste . . . It’s similar to marriage in the sense that creating a couple's style or taste takes compromise and work, but to me it's then a very beautiful process to learn to adapt and take inspiration from his personal style and color palette and elevate them into something that works for me."
Individually, the artist describes her aesthetic as "unapologetically feminine, sophisticated yet playful, and antique-inspired." And when she's not designing for her clients, she admits, "I tend to be my worst client! I tend to change my mind pretty often! Moving things around and creating a collected process is really important to me, but is definitely a labor of love."
For her Dream Registry, Caitlin focused on items to aid her in hosting. "I always say, you can never have too much flatware," she smiles. The founder was also drawn to a Jura coffee machine and Italian dinnerware. "Ginori plates are classic but have distinct color palette and personality."
Caitlin leaves us with expert advice for couples creating their Over The Moon Registries: "Put things on your registry that you never would buy yourself! Get things that you love and that will last. I look around my home today and see dishes and decor that have been held so near and dear for almost 20 years."
