“It feels like we’ve had an invisible string tying us together our whole lives,” stylist and content creator Claire O’Callaghan says of her fiancé, Will Knox. “We grew up just fifteen minutes apart—our parents still live that close—and we were surrounded by all the same people. He was close with my college roommate’s older sister, and we later realized we’d been at so many of the same parties throughout those years without ever officially meeting.”
It eventually took years for them to connect. Her college roommate ran into his mom and learned he was single, and coincidentally, Claire’s sister ran into him on Nantucket. She gave him her number, but by the time he texted Claire (after the seasons changed), Claire was seeing someone else.
Four years later, she DM-ed him asking when he was finally going to ask her out. Her confidence paid off. Claire reveals, “He responded right away and made plans for the next week.” One year-and-a-half later, Will got down on one knee on their friends’ boat in Greenwich, Connecticut, and now the pair are planning a late-summer wedding at the American Yacht Club.
And while planning is underway, Claire is sharing her Over The Moon Registry with us. She describes her style as “simple, chic, and timeless,” and notes Nate Berkus, Lauren Buxbaum Gordon, Kendall Rabun, and Charlotte Barnes as her interiors inspirations.
Decorating The Home
Warm, natural pieces always help to ground a space.
I want the decor to match the natural vibe of the space. Being at a yacht club right on the water I want to lean into the nautical vibe.
I wanted to find pieces that felt very timeless and chic with a little bit of fun flare. I love color but for my wedding I wanted to stick to wearing all the white because when else? I wanted looks that I will look back at and love forever.
Kitchen
Mixing clean, white appliances with pops of gold is the way to go.
We are pretty aligned on style, Will has developed a very good sense of style and I have approved of all his style suggestions which has made it easy!
I am a big cook. Will and I both love food, and I love to host, so I definitely want to incorporate special pieces that I can use for years to come when hosting friends and family.
Tabletop
With the right tabletop, gathering for a meal couldn’t be more beautiful.
Claire leaves us with sage advice for couples currently making their own Over The Moon Registries: “Think about pieces you will actually use. I think a lot of people chose items that they think would be nice to have for certain occasions. And yes, that’s definitely nice, but I think the majority should be pieces you’re excited to use right away. ”
