Five years after Olivet Co-Founder and bridal stylist Olivia Ivey Barrett and Almost Friday Media CEO and Co-Founder Jack Barrett said “I do” in the Adirondacks, the couple are expecting their first child—a sweet baby girl—on April 1. While Olivia shared her Over The Moon Dream Registry with us last year to celebrate the launch of her garment bag label, Olivet, on the site, she’s returning—this time to curate her Dream Baby Registry.

Too appropriate with her due date, Olivia shares her little one is already pulling pranks. “I took a pregnancy test while celebrating my birthday at my cottage in Canada with friends. It’s on a remote island about a 30-minute boat ride from the marina. I randomly decided to take a test that morning and was shocked to see a positive result. I took another one about 30 minutes later . . . and it said I was not pregnant,” she reveals. “I wasn’t about to boat into town and then drive to a drugstore, so I had the Champagne and waited another two days until we returned to California to confirm that I was, in fact, pregnant!”

Q: Do you have a name already picked out?

We do have a name! Most of my friends know, but I think I’ll wait a bit longer before sharing it publicly. There’s no meaning behind it other than that my husband and I both love it. Her middle name will be Quinn, which is my paternal grandmother’s maiden name, and a shared middle name with my dad, sister, and several cousins.

Q: How would you describe your aesthetic for the baby’s room and wardrobe?

I am definitely someone who loves color and prints, texture, and uniqueness in my interiors, so her room will be no different. Yellow is the dominant color, as we already had warm beautiful curtains to work with; however, there will definitely be a sense of femininity throughout the space. The room doesn't have any big significant wall space, so we’ve decided to wallpaper the ceiling for something a little different.

Mixing classic aesthetics with pops of fun.

Q: What were must-have items for your Dream Baby Registry?

Two must-have items were from BabyBjorn. I think we can all agree as parents-to-be that we are just so excited to carry around our little ones on our chest, so the carrier was a must. Next is the BabyBjorn bouncer that I think most of my friends have highly recommended. My next must-haves were any smocked dresses or bloomers—they just completely melt my heart! I can't wait to dress her up in these adorable outfits.

Q: We love your nursery picks, what drew you to them?

The printed mirror was not only a fun edition to the space, but a friend said she loved being able to look in the mirror with her baby, and watch herself “become a mom.” The Namesake crib in vintage gold is so incredibly charming. Even though everything in her room will be new, I like the idea of the space feeling lived-in.

The Nursery

Her first room deserves high-quality and well-curated pieces.

Olivia leaves us with first-hand advice for other parents-to-be currently making their own Over The Moon Baby Registries: “Lean on your friends! I have really taken to heart that you don't need everything—and to not unpack it all right away. I would say focus on the things that bring you joy in terms of building the space, and when it comes to products and nursery essentials, consult your peers. And my last bit of advice—start it earlier than you think. It took me much longer than I thought it would as I had decision fatigue!! Who knew there were so many different pacifier shapes and sizes? And all my friends say, ‘Your child will honestly have a favorite and you'll never use the rest.’”
